My Story

My name is Mikayla Wetjen. I'm currently a senior in high school in Simsbury, CT. I'm committed to play D3 field hockey at Skidmore College, and I've been playing for about 9 years. I first started strength and conditioning in 2018 intermittently, and recently started training for the collegiate level starting in 2020.

Why I chose to create this program:

I decided I wanted to play college field hockey late into the season of my senior year. After that, I started strength training, and I have been for about two years. Through that process, I've been through lots of ups and downs as I've tried to figure out what's worked for me, and finding ways to improve at the sport I love. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for my personal trainer, Grayson. He's helped me improve my athletic potential significantly, and has helped me properly prepare for my high performance indoor and outdoor club field hockey teams.

However, not everyone has access to a personal trainer or ways to fit that into their schedule. Therefore, I wanted to create a basic training plan that was general enough to be able to be used by all sports. I believe that everyone should have a shot to play the sport they love at whatever level, whether that's high school, club, or college level. I wanted to give people the necessary tools to not only see what a strength and conditioning plan looks like, but give them something they can use to improve athletically.

What this site offers:

This site offers information on strength and conditioning as well as proper nutrition for athletics. There are 4 offered plans for each section of the 4 pillars of fitness, and 1 nutrition plan. The plans are general enough to be able to be followed without much instruction, or are able to be built off of and integrated into another plan. This plan also offers those who have never strength trained before a look into what a plan can look like, and a general idea of what they would expect to see if they choose to play at the next level.
